To my Father

I wonder if my life is like what
yours once was. How far away it seems.

I think you may have felt the

Perhaps it takes this to realize what you've been through.

Myriad: An Ode on Duplicity

Idiom and Plethoric voice
that call from womb and grave alike
embracing melancholy
and an eternity of vice.

Am I, or am I not
what perception states
is me?

Will I, or will I not
act as if
I be?

Perhaps I shall be reckoned with,
my fate a whim upon the wind.

But not today,
for today we dance in masquerade
and live as if we see.

Negatives

1.
Utterances of light reflected from one's face
become revealed secrets,
or silent gestures that elucidate desire.

Intolerable ecstasy amidst the mire of this life,
a mute tear, mine, and testament to inner salinity,
wanders slowly to a pool of darkened space.

2.
Three black demons, each unnamed,
Seven lepers, once untamed.
Guilt leaps out to strike their will,
Rage inspires desire to kill,
While Grief just dumbly stares.

3.
Bride with lucid teeth,
candled-cake and vodka tonic,
Veil and baby's breath.

Groom, shimmeringly dark tuxedo,
leather bound bible, microphone,
and the nature of his band.
